Who is Cyril
Cyril Neville is a legendary percussionist, vocalist and songwriter, best know as a founding member of the iconic Neville Brothers and his work with The Meters. With deep roots in New Orleans funk, soul, R & B, blues, rock and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, his music pulses with rhythm and cultural pride. His illustrious music career has earned him 2 Grammy Awards, first in 1989 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for “Healing Chant” off the Neville Brothers iconic album Yellow Moon. In 2018, Cyril received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award as a member of The Meters honoring their significant contributions to music. Additionally, Cyril has contributed to multiple critically acclaimed projects including the 2020 album “Got to be Tough” with Toots and the Maytals, and a Blues Music Award for Song of the Year for “Magic Honey” off his solo album Pearl River with Mike Zito. Cyril has collaborated with the likes of Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Robbie Robertson, and the Rolling Stones. His music is a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of rock, funk, and blues making him a pivotal figure in the New Orleans and it’s music scene.
